Public notices - The new Royal Children's Hospital project

Return to Royal Park – Gatehouse Street Site

The City of Melbourne and the Department of Health are working together on Return to Royal Park, a project to reinstate parkland on the site of the old Royal Children’s Hospital, on the corner of Gatehouse Street and Flemington Road, Parkville.

We will be consulting with the community and interested groups from Monday 5 March to Monday 16 April 2012 to understand their ideas and vision for the parkland.

Key opportunities for you to participate include:

  • Ideas forums to be held on Tuesday 20 March (6pm to 8.30pm) and Saturday 24 March (10am to 1.30pm) at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, 10 Brens Drive, Royal Park. These forums will give you the chance to discuss your values, aspirations and ideas for the Gatehouse Street site. RSVP to attend by calling (03) 9285 9007.

  • An online forum to be live from Monday 5 March to Monday 16 April. This is an opportunity for you to share your ideas and vision for the future parkland. Sign up and join the conversation at www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/returntoroyalpark

  • Vox pops will be undertaken throughout the consultation period. These short interviews will capture the views of a range of diverse user groups and visitors to Royal Park. For information about vox pop locations, dates and times, please visit www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/returntoroyalpark

The outcome of the first phase of community consultation will be a shared vision for the parkland which will be used to develop an ideas plan. The second phase of community consultation, planned for September 2012, will focus on receiving feedback and comment on the ideas plan.
