- The new RCH aims to be Australia's first 5-star Green Star Hospital using the Green Building Council of Australia's healthcare pilot tool.
- Materials such as carpet, vinyl and paint will contain low levels or no volatile organic compounds or formaldehyde resulting in improved air quality.
- There will be 500 bike parking spaces with shower and change facilities located nearby.
- Ozone depleting refrigerants and insulants will be avoided.
- Most parts of the hospital will have access to daylight.
