A new hospital is being built for the children of Victoria

On 28 November 2005, the State Government announced that it would build one of the world's most advanced Children's Hospitals to the west of the existing Royal Children's Hospital (RCH).

Work on the new RCH commenced on 17 December 2007 with Premier John Brumby and Health Minister Daniel Andrews turning the first sod.

The Victoria Government is committed to ensuring the RCH continues to provide world class child and adolescent health care, as well as continuing to be an international leader in research and education.

Set to open in late 2011, the $1 billion project is being delivered under the State's Partnerships Victoria policy.
